The Board of Regents for Higher Education is deeply dismayed at the recent turn of events involving the promotion of Dr. Ravi Shankar, an associate professor at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU), to the rank of full professor. We believe that faculty and staff must be held to the highest standards inside as well as outside the classroom.
As a result of the information that came to our attention earlier this week, the Board of Regents has asked the CCSU administration for an immediate and full investigation surrounding the process resulting in the recommendation to promote Dr. Shankar. CCSU is actively engaged in that investigation, and will provide its report to the Board as soon as it is completed.
While awaiting CCSU’s findings, the Board of Regents will convene regarding the consent item related to the promotion of Dr. Shankar. Following receipt of CCSU’s report, the Board will take whatever additional action it deems appropriate.
