Board Formally Names Vice Presidents
The Board of Regents for Higher Education today formally named Dr. Elsa Núñez and Dr. David Levinson as the Vice Presidents for the State Universities and Community Colleges, respectively
“The Board was pleased to formally name Drs. Núñez and Levinson to their positions as vice presidents of the organization,” said Board of Regents Chairman Lewis J. Robinson. “Both presidents are known to be passionate about higher education, innovative thinkers, and hardworking leaders who inspire those on their campuses to never lose sight of the students we serve. In short, they are just the kind of people who should fill these statutorily-appointed roles. They will help shape our education policy agenda and draw from their on-campus experience while doing so. I look forward to continuing to work with both Drs. Núñez and Levinson in this capacity.”
“The insight and hands-on experience that Drs. Núñez and Levinson bring to their respective roles has been critical throughout these early months,” said Board President Robert A. Kennedy. “They are well-respected by their peers, well-versed in education policy and the kind of experienced, thoughtful leaders we need to help move an aggressive agenda that benefits our students first and foremost.”
“I am honored that the Board of Regents has appointed me as Vice President for the Connecticut State Universities,” said Dr. Núñez. “I look forward to working with the Board of Regents, President Kennedy, and the university and college presidents to advance and strengthen public higher education in Connecticut.”
“I am delighted that my role as Interim Vice President for Community Colleges has grown into a permanent appointment,” said Dr. Levinson. “It’s been gratifying to work on the state level to advance the role of community colleges and help move the newly reorganized system of higher education forward. In a very short time, we’ve made meaningful changes to ease transfer among the state’s colleges and enhance student success.”
